Roots of Prosperity
“Everyone has a story - and why would you want your story to be lost?”
Gary A Teelucksingh words in his new book "Roots of Prosperity" stopped me in my tracks. They speak directly to the shift happening across Canada: families want to pass on more than assets.
They want to pass on meaning; the rituals, values, histories, and lived experiences that shape who they become.
As a second-generation Italian, I know how much of my own family’s identity was built through sacrifice, story, and culture. What’s enduring past my dad’s death is the meaning he carried, the values he lived by, and the way he moved through the world; the human inheritance, as I like to refer to it.
This is exactly the work LegacyNex is doing. Helping families articulate what will never show up on a balance sheet, but absolutely shapes the next generation’s sense of belonging, clarity, and direction.
A huge thank you to Renato Discenza MBA, ICD.D, C.Dir. for gifting me Gary’s book. It’s exceptional. Thoughtful, sharp, and aligned with a national conversation that’s gaining momentum. The words truly jump off the page.
This isn’t a trend.
It’s a recalibration of what legacy actually means in Canada.
And it’s long overdue.
